Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has gotten to be synonymous with the wildly popular ‘Fast and Furious’ movies. However, co-star Vin Diesel recently revealed that Johnson’s part of Agent Luke Hobbs was initially planned for another person.
Vin Diesel, who’s been a part of the “Quick” establishment since the primary film, has kept up a dynamic and intelligent Facebook page for his fans. Turns out, Diesel’s reliable fan base were really the primary reason that Dwayne Johnson ended up in the fifth installment.
Diesel went live on Facebook to thank his fans and express how they have helped shape some of his films. Vin stated, ‘Back in the fifth film, when I was asking ‘Who should I work with?’ The reason why we brought Dwayne Johnson into Fast Five was because of you.’
Diesel went on to say, ‘There was a girl named Jen Kelly who said, ‘I would love to see you guys work together on-screen.’’ The ‘Fast’ actor then revealed that the role was initially written with a very different actor in mind.
Vin Diesel told fans that the role was initially written for Tommy Lee Jones, but went on to compliment The Rock by saying, ‘we gave it to Dwayne and he shined in it.’
It’s hard to imagine anyone else in the role of Agent Luke Hobbs now, but you have to wonder if there were massive rewrites to the character once Johnson signed on.
The eighth installment in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise is currently in post-production and is set for a release on April 14th, 2007.
